PurgeCore Mobile

A free Android companion app. See your storage at a glance, and find duplicate photos and videos taking up space you didn't know you could get back.

Download the APK Free, v1.1.1, not yet on Google Play

Not the Windows app? PurgeCore for Windows is here.

What it does

Two things, done well, rather than a long list done half-heartedly.

Storage at a glance

A simple, honest view of how much space is used and how much is free on your device, no digging through Android's own settings menus.

Duplicate photos & videos

Finds photos and videos with identical content, not just similar names, so a renamed copy is still caught. Always keeps at least one copy of every file, a group can never be wiped out by one action.

Deletion, the safe way

Removing duplicates goes through Android's own system confirmation dialog, the same one any app uses to delete your media, nothing happens silently.

Private by design

Your photos and their content never leave your device. Nothing is scanned, uploaded, or analyzed anywhere but locally, on the phone in your hand.

Built to stay out of your data

Same principle as PurgeCore for Windows, just on a different platform.

Stays local

Duplicate detection happens entirely on your device. Nothing about your photos is ever sent anywhere.

Minimal permissions

Only asks for access to photos and videos, and only when you open the duplicate finder. No permission to read your contacts, location, or anything else.

Free, with ads to support development

PurgeCore Mobile is free to use. Development is supported by ads shown in the app, the same honest model most free Android apps use, clearly separate from the tool itself.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same app as PurgeCore for Windows?

No, it's a separate app built for what a phone actually needs: a storage overview and a duplicate photo finder, rather than trying to force Windows-style features (registry, startup manager) onto Android, where they don't apply.

Why isn't it on Google Play yet?

It's brand new. The APK is available to install directly for now, Play Store submission may follow once it's had more real-world use.

Will installing this show a warning?

Since it's not yet distributed through Google Play, Android will likely ask you to confirm installing from an unknown source the first time. The source code is public on GitHub, and each release ships with a SHA-256 checksum you can verify.
