CleanTab is being discontinued

If you found this page through CleanTab or getcleantab.com, here's what's changing, why, and what to do next.

What's happening

CleanTab will be discontinued. CleanTab started as a lightweight Chrome and Edge extension: cache, cookies, and history cleanup, tracker blocking, a cookie whitelist, all scoped to what a browser extension can actually do. It's being retired in favor of PurgeCore, a full Windows app built around the same idea, cleaning your system safely, without collecting data, but with a much wider reach.

What PurgeCore does that CleanTab couldn't

Cleans every browser at once, not just the one the extension is installed in: Chrome, Edge, and Firefox, from one place.
Disk space analysis: largest files and folders, a breakdown of storage by category, old files you've likely forgotten about.
Duplicate file detection, matched by actual content, with safe deletion that always keeps at least one copy.
Startup program management to speed up boot time.
A RAM check and PC-wide Temp/Recycle Bin cleanup, things a browser extension has no access to at all.
Driver info (read-only): flags drivers that haven't been updated in years, with links to check for updates yourself.

What stays the same

100% free, no premium tier. A couple of small, clearly labeled affiliate recommendations (like NordVPN), never intrusive ads, banners, or popups
Nothing about your files or browsing ever sent anywhere, everything runs locally
A cookie whitelist so you stay signed in to the sites you choose
Every deletion is safe: it goes to the Recycle Bin, with a clear risk indicator before anything happens

What to do

Download PurgeCore below and switch over when you're ready. Once CleanTab is discontinued it will stop receiving updates, and at some point Chrome and Edge may remove it automatically since unmaintained extensions eventually get delisted. PurgeCore is currently in beta: the core features are stable, but it hasn't had wide real-world testing yet.

Download PurgeCore

Free forever, no account, no trial.

Download for Windows

No commercial code-signing certificate yet, so Windows may show a brief "unknown publisher" warning on first run. The source is public on GitHub, and each release is published with a SHA-256 checksum you can verify.

On Mac, Linux, or don't use Windows? PurgeCore is Windows-only for now, so CleanTab remaining available a little longer is the practical reality for you, but it won't be maintained going forward.
